Angela Adams

Angela has been with HR Source since 2000. Angela has expertise affirmative action programs and general HR services. She also provides assistance in training for member organizations. 

Angela has worked in human resources 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Boston University. She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) as designated through the Human Resource Certification Institute and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, as well as a Senior Certified Professional (SCP) through the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Scott Cawood, Ed.D., CCP, GRP, CSCP, WLCP, CBP, is President and CEO of WorldatWork, the leading global Total Rewards Association. Prior to joining WorldatWork, Scott worked at W.L. Gore & Associates Inc., the maker of Gore-Tex. Scott has served as the President of Synygy, a global sales compensation company where he began as its Chief Human Resources Officer. Scott has also held executive positions such as head of Global Talent at Revlon and the Great Place to Work Institute, which selects Fortune magazine's 100 Best Places to Work. 

As an avid learner, Scott holds five degrees, including his doctorate from the Wharton School of Business and the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied labor and industrial relations, at Michigan State. He has completed five WorldatWork certifications and has been a part of the business school faculty at Georgetown University for 15 years. 

Scott is a first-degree Black belt in Kenpo Karate, a Michigan native, and lived in NYC for much of his adult life but is now happy to call the Grand Canyon state his home.

Home Run Inn pizza is an iconic Chicago Pizza Company dating back to 1927. Home Run Inn Pizza currently owns and operates nine Chicago area restaurants and 2 USDA factories that supply frozen pizzas to retailers in more than 40 states. The current operations also include a fully branded licensed Home Run Inn Pizza concept in Chicago’s Midway Airport. Dan Costello, CEO, has worked over the past 25 years at defining and developing Home Run Inn's brand and strategy. He is responsible for the strategic direction of the restaurant and manufacturing divisions and leads more than 500 team members in running one of Chicago’s most recognizable pizza brands. A family owned and operated company; Dan is a 4th generation family member serving in management and leadership roles within the business and family council of Home Run Inn. Dan holds a BS degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago graduate program. He is an active member of Young Presidents Organization and serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Restaurant Association and the Management Association of Illinois. Dan is also a past advisor for both North Lawndale College Prep, a charter school, dedicated to providing high quality education to underprivileged students in the inner-city neighborhoods of Chicago and Feed My Starving Children, a faith based organization aimed at nourishing the poorest of the poor in under-developed third world countries. He is the father of 5 children and currently lives in Clarendon Hills with his wife Julia. Dan & Julia are active with various charitable organizations and committees affiliated with their local community, schools, & parish. 


Blanca Dominguez

In the course of her career, Blanca has represented employers in all aspects of employment law and has worked as in-house counsel for both private and public employers. Members benefit from her considerable experience defending employers in both state and federal courts and agencies in all types of employment related matters, including harassment, discrimination, claims under the Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Blanca can be relied on to provide advice on all legal aspects of the employer-employee relationship.

Traci O’Neal Ellis is a Chicago-area based attorney, CHRO and Chief Equity Officer and frequent speaker on equity, the intersection of race, law, and politics, and radically inclusive leadership. 

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Business & Industry at Florida A & M University and a Juris Doctor degree at The Ohio State University, College of Law.  Traci is licensed to practice law in Georgia and Illinois.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Traci is also the author of the book "The Exceptional Negro: Racism, White Privilege and the Lie of Respectability Politics".


Mary Lynn Fayoumi

Mary Lynn Fayoumi, CAE, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-SCP is the President and CEO of HR Source. She is a highly respected and sought after speaker, trainer and advisor and is an accepted authority on a variety of organizational issues including workplace culture, employment trends, people management and leadership. Countless organizations have benefited from her expertise during her twenty plus years at the association.  

Mary Lynn is a prolific writer, quoted and published regularly in a variety of local and national publications. She is a Past Chair of the Board of Directors for both the Association Forum of Chicagoland and the Employer Associations of America. She is also an Advisory Board Member of the Community Memorial Foundation and Family Shelter Service. 

Mary Lynn is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Industrial Relations/Human Resources. She also holds an MBA in International Management with Honors from the Thunderbird School of Management. 


Jim Griffin

Jim Griffin is an employment attorney for HR Source, a professional organization providing human resource solutions for member organizations for over 100 years.  In his role, Jim regularly works with members to provide thoughtful advice regarding their pressing employment law and human resources matters, including complaints of harassment or discrimination, medical leaves of absence and accommodation requests, employee discipline and discharge, and wage and hour law compliance concerns. Jim helps members develop separation and other employment agreements, employee handbooks, and training programs. He also represents employers before the EEOC, the IDHR, the IDOL, the USDOL and other state and federal agencies.

Prior to joining HR Source, Jim worked at a plaintiffs' employment law firm, where he handled federal and state class action, multi-plaintiff, and individual cases related to employment discrimination, wage and hour issues, and other employment-related claims.  

Jim graduated cum laude with a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.  Jim has a B.S. in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.     


Candace Fisher

Kelly Hayden is Chief Legal Counsel for HR Source, a professional organization providing human resource solutions for member organizations for more than 100 years. In her role, Kelly provides representation to employers before the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Labor, the US Department of Labor and other state and federal agencies. She also assists employers with hiring, discipline, and termination procedures; preparation of employment agreements; and the drafting and reviewing of employment policies and handbooks. She provides employment law compliance training for managers, supervisors, and HR professionals covering many topics including harassment, discipline and discharge, the FMLA, ADA, social media, employee handbooks, interviewing and hiring and drug and alcohol testing. As a representative of HR Source, Kelly frequently lectures to professional organizations on numerous employment law topics and contributes to the association’s website and has authored articles in numerous trade journals.

Kelly has a J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a B.A. in English and psychology, also from Indiana University. Kelly is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and before the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  Kelly came to the Association from a large Chicago law firm where she practiced for nine years defending employers in employment discrimination trials. Kelly is a member of the American Bar Association and its Section on Labor and Employment Law. Kelly has also served as a fire commissioner for the Village of Frankfort Fire Protection District for more than 10 years.

Mark Ishaug has dedicated his career to advocating for the rights of stigmatized and vulnerable people. As the CEO of Thresholds, Mark has overseen explosive growth, but also a culture shift that embraces change, innovation, transparency, and yes – love. Thresholds has been recognized for six consecutive years as a Chicago Tribune Top Workplace and a Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For. Prior to Thresholds, Mark worked as a leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS as CEO of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Mark holds a master’s degree in political science from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in government and international studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Kathryn O'Connor, PHR, SHRM-CP, CCP, GRP is Director, Compensation Services, for HR Source. Kathryn consults with employers on compensation system design, job evaluation systems, market benchmarking practices, and performance management systems. Kathryn also provides compensation, human resource, and supervisory/management training services for employers a consultant and via the association’s HR Hotline. Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University.


Sonal Shah

Sonal is Senior Employment Counsel for HR Source, a professional organization providing human resource solutions for member organizations for more than 100 years. As part of her practice, Sonal has represented employers against wrongful discharge and discrimination claims in front of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Illinois Human Rights Commission. Sonal also has significant experience counseling employers on properly complying with the law and managing their workforce; preparing employment and severance agreements; drafting/revising disciplinary and termination notices; and crafting employment policies and handbooks. In addition, she provides employment law compliance training for managers, supervisors and HR professionals. Sonal also contributes to the Association’s monthly newsletter and website.

Sonal came to HR Source from a large Chicago law firm where she represented public and private employers, from the smallest private companies to corporations exceeding 10,000 employees, on a broad range of labor and employment law matters arising under federal and state law.

Sonal has a B.S. in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. 


Carrie Steiner

First Responders Wellness Center

Carrie Steiner is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of the First Responders Wellness Center, a private practice full service agency to meet the needs of police and first responders’ emotional wellness.   As a psychologist, she conducts police and public safety psychological evaluations and specializes in trauma therapy utilizing EMDR, exposure, and cognitive behavioral therapy.  Further, she develops wellness programs for police departments including yearly wellness checks and does individual and group de-briefings after critical incidents.  Dr. Steiner is a certified trauma professional and member of the ILCAP and ICAP.  She is also the clinical advisor for Blue HELP, a nonprofit agency for first responders to reduce mental health stigma through education, advocate for benefits.   

Dr. Steiner is a 13 year former Chicago Police Officer, Crisis Intervention Team Leader, peer support member, and Chicago Police Academy instructor.  While working for the Chicago Police Department she spearheaded their veteran CIT training and autism spectrum training for law enforcement.  She also has FBI hostage negotiation training, has worked as a psychologist for Cook County and Kane County Jails as well as collaborated with federal government agencies on high risk cases.  She speaks national on officer wellness, police suicide, mental illness and police response, cumulative trauma, CIT, Peer support, PTSD, and has several national and local awards.   


Sue Winkler

Sue brings over 20 years of experience in Human Resources and Safety to the HR Source. In her current role, Sue is Director of EngageHR leading a dynamic team of HR professionals who provide onsite project partnering and recruiting assistance to member organizations. Sue also provides services to members via the Hotline assisting in all areas including compliance, employee relations, investigations, policy interpretation, and benefits. In addition, she assists with Employee Opinion Surveys, focus groups and training initiatives.

As a previous business owner and executive of a manufacturing company, Sue brings a unique perspective to human resources. Leading and working as part of a family owned manufacturing company has given her insight and experience in all aspects of the business including strategic planning, profitability, corporate structure, mentoring and coaching, long range planning, benefit administration, policy development and implementation, workers compensation/safety program administration, employee communication and training, and recruiting. Sue is a seasoned manager with extensive hands-on experience who understands the balance between corporate and employee needs.

In addition, Sue spent 15 years on the Board of Trustees for the Worker’s Compensation Trust of Illinois, a self-funded pooled risk program. Sue served as Chairman of the Board for several years, and was closely involved in claims management and loss control for the approximately 100 members of the Trust.

Sue earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Bradley University with a Business minor and is CIR certified.


Julie Yurko

Julie joined Northern Illinois Food Bank in 2009 and served as the organization’s philanthropy team lead since 2010 before her appointment to president and CEO in 2014. Julie has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, operations and marketing.

Prior to joining the Food Bank, Julie worked for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Children’s Memorial Foundation (now Lurie’s Children’s Medical Center) and the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo. Julie has served as President of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement, and on the Boards of the Special Education Alliance for District 200, and Teen Parent Connection.

Julie serves on the Boards of the Better Business Bureau of Chicago, Feeding Illinois and Thrivent Member Network Regional Board. She is also a past member of the Illinois Commission to End Hunger.

Julie has a degree in music and business from Northern Illinois University. She and her family live in Winfield.
