Dr. Charles DeShazer is Market Medical Officer for Humana's Illinois Market. He is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 24 years experience in quality improvement, medical management and Medical Informatics. In his current role, he manages the clinical operations for the Humana Illinois market which includes utilization management, quality improvement, disease management, provider relationships and client reporting. Dr DeShazer also leads a national group on cardiovascular disease management and collaborates with other markets on corporate initiatives including medical home pilots. He previously spent 14 years in various roles with Kaiser Permanente, most recently Associate Medical Director for Quality, Clinical Performance Improvement and Research for their Ohio region. Dr. DeShazer received his B.S. in Biology from Loyola University of Chicago and M.D. from the University of Illinois in Chicago where he also completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency.
