About membership
Our Mission
The Management Association of Illinois is a trusted source of people
management expertise working to improve the performance of the organizations we
serve.
As an employers' association, we have been dedicated to delivering reliable
information and cost-effective services to member organizations for more
than 100 years.

Our History
We're 110 years old! But we haven't always been known as
The Management Association of Illinois.
1898—Founded as the Chicago Metal Trades Association.
1905—Became
the Chicago branch of the National Metal Trades Association.
1964—Changed
name to the American Association of Industrial Management, Midwest
Division.
1969—Name changed to Midwest Industrial Management Association
(MIMA), a name many of our members still use to refer to us.
1989—To reflect a more diverse pool of members, the name
changed to The Management Association of Illinois.
The Management Association of Illinois has had an ever-changing history. We plan to
be the best choice for employers for another 110 years!
