Satisfied, engaged employees don't sign union cards!
An organization’s greatest asset is its employees. The opinions of these employees dictate morale, their morale controls productivity, and productivity ultimately determines organizational success - or failure. Employees are the key to your organization’s success, yet their satisfaction is seldom surveyed, leaving morale “to chance”.
Conducting an Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) will provide information about organizational strengths and problem areas as well as provide a road map to solutions. With our normative data, you will be provided with a baseline upon which you can, not only benchmark you progress, but also see how your organization measures up to other organizations around the country who have used our survey instrument.
With The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) (or the "Card Check" bill) now being decided in Congress, can you really wait until there is a union campaign outside your doors before you identify particular issues in specific departments that need improvement? Is it safe to your organization to sit back and “rest of on your laurels”? Do you know what your employees would do if they were pressured by union organizers to sign a union card? Let’s face it, you cannot wait any longer to act, and by doing an EOS it will also help to facilitate communication within your organization after you have obtained input from your employees and responded accordingly.
Let The Management Association of Illinois help you determine the strengths and weaknesses of your organization by conducting an Employee Opinion Survey today.
Our standard EOS contains 72 statements and three open-ended questions, that allow you to fully benchmark, analyze and benefit from your employees’ opinions and ideas. The survey instrument is administered confidentially to all your employees, either electronically or on paper, as your needs require. We will collect and tabulate the data, then present you with a graphical and narrative written executive summary that compares your employees' responses with national normative data. You won't be left guessing if your responses warrant immediate action or are less pressing. We will provide you with the statistics that will make clear areas of concern and help you to effectively design a plan-of-action.
Your summary report will contain qualified feedback and comparative national norms for 11 topical categories:
• Working Conditions
• Communication
• Compensation and Benefits
• Employee Development and Recognition
• Management Effectiveness
• Policies and Practices
• Quality and Productivity
• Quality of Work/Life
• Reaction to the Survey
• Supervisory - People Skills
• Supervisory - Management Skills
The survey can also be adapted and modified to address issues specific to your organization, situation or even to a particular location or shift. Employees are always encouraged to include specific written comments, suggestions and concerns.
Next steps
The survey is the first step on your journey to becoming an Employer of Choice. The next step is identifying appropriate, meaningful action plans. The Association can assist with this effort, and can also take an active role in the presentation of the survey results to your employees. It is sometimes beneficial to have our survey and statistical experts on hand, as a neutral third party, to interpret results for employees and help to introduce your chosen course of follow-up action.
In addition, our trained facilitators can host targeted focus groups to determine specific areas where improvement is needed. Throughout the implementation process we will be on hand and continue to partner and advise you as needed.
