Spring Renewal Blooms

cherry blossomsI saw perennial plants covered in snow hanging on racks outside The Home Depot two weeks ago. It seemed hopelessly optimistic and yet tragic. I also heard a funny reference to the endless seasonal indecisiveness of Chicago area weather through the Twittersphere. This early spring/lingering winter phase we’re in should be referred to as “The Pollening.” As in the air is filled with pollen, yet the weather is still cold and unpredictable. Sounds like a spring-themed horror movie franchise.

Well until I decide to change careers and become a screenwriter, I guess I’ll just remain a membership director focused on the other thing that blooms in the spring: Membership renewal!  Early in May, with snow still inexplicably on the ground, we sent out the first renewal notice for active members of HR Source. While the upcoming membership year runs from July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020, we like to give a little early notice to the 1200 + organizational members we are privileged to serve. Our renewals go out on a schedule and in a variety of mediums. First was a slick “renew online” email option, complete with a YouTube video greeting and the ability to pay via credit card. We followed up a few weeks later with a printed invoice mailed to a physical address, for those who like to receive notice the old-fashioned way.

So by now, barring another weather debacle, you should be in-the-know. Thanks in advance for processing your renewal without delay.  It comes with our promise of a meaningful return on your annual investment. That’s an important feature. An annual renewable investment. While it sounds like a bizarre insurance annuity product, it is a testament to how much our members value being a part of HR Source. There is no contract per se. Nor is there a reward or guarantee for lifetime participation. Gone are the days of belonging to the local association or club for old times’ sake. Our members take a step into the light each year because they believe in our ability to help them as employers.

We must continually prove our value to members at each interaction, whether it’s a speedy reply to a challenging issue over the HR Hotline, a crucial piece of market data in time for that new hire salary negotiation, or perhaps the mysterious absence of a hefty legal bill after a lengthy interaction with one of our staff attorneys. Your faith in us is evident through your longevity and continued affiliation.

Remember, a freshly renewed membership means a free HR Check-Up in the coming year. It’s a great way to do some HR spring cleaning. If you have any questions about the benefits of membership, please give us a holler. We’re always here to review our array of member benefits and helpful resources, and hopefully, keep you in the fold and out of the cold. After all, it’s spring already, right?
