Conducting Effective Workplace Investigations

One of the most important jobs HR professionals have is conducting internal/workplace investigations. Properly and thoroughly done investigations will reduce employee complaints and minimize an organization’s legal liability. Yet, this is an area where HR professionals often have little training or experience. To address that gap, our attorneys have created this training to provide individuals with the tools, tips, and techniques they need to ensure they conduct thorough, fair and impartial investigations and boost their confidence in handling sensitive and complex employee issues.

In this session, we will cover:

  • The laws that come into play when conducting internal investigations
  • How to prepare for witness interviews, including properly gathering and reviewing documentary and physical evidence 
  • How to conduct interviews, including questions to ask and handling difficult witnesses
  • Properly documenting and assessing investigative findings, including the credibility of witnesses
  • Best practices in handling investigation results, including effectively communicating and acting upon your determinations
