Is your organization awesome? Do you rise and shine every day you get to go into the office? Do you totally dig your boss? Do you find yourself boasting about your employer at social functions, to strangers at the gym or while talking in your sleep? Perhaps you’d like to speak with a professional.

Just kidding. What I meant to say was, perhaps you’d like the world to know your inner thoughts about your employer. In a tightening labor market, companies in the war for talent are striving to not only become a great place to work, but one that attracts, cultivates and retains the best employees. More than offering a distinguished list of perks and high salaries, many employers are offering something special and unique to their employees:  a vibrant and inclusive culture, flexible benefits and work environment, open communication in the workplace and even a philanthropic mission to give back to the community in a sustainable way.

Sometimes, unfortunately, these efforts go unnoticed. What a shame! Aside from the benefits of maintaining a skillful and productive workforce, satisfied employees tend to refer their friends and spread the word about their outstanding employers. If you feel this way about your employer, particularly as an HR practitioner and cultural engineer of many successful initiatives, I strongly encourage you to publicize your organization’s successes for some recognition. Luckily, I have just the way to make it happen.

The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® competition identifies and honors organizations that display a commitment to excellence in their human resource practices and employee enrichment. Employers are assessed based on categories such as communication, work-life balance, employee education, diversity, recognition, retention and more. All participating organizations receive a complimentary assessment report and other unique opportunities throughout the year. Winning groups are invited to celebrate in a public event.

The Management Association is involved as a marketing partner for the Chicago-area competition.
