HR Hotline FAQs
What is the HR Hotline?
Exactly what it sounds like: a number you can call anytime (during business hours, of course) with an HR pro on the other end of the line. Members call the Hotline when they’re confused, frustrated, stuck, or just learning a new area of HR practice.
Who will I be talking to?
Seasoned HR professionals who genuinely care about you and your organization and want to help you solve problems. This includes experienced HR generalists, employment law attorneys, compensation professionals, and learning and development specialists.
Wait – I can talk to an attorney on the HR Hotline, without paying extra?
You sure can! Our employment law attorneys answer the HR Hotline alongside the rest of our team. No matter who answers, you can always ask to speak with an attorney, and we'll make it happen.
What kind of issues can I call about?
If it touches the HR function, you can talk to us about it: policies, best practices, FMLA, ADA accommodations, discipline and termination, wage and hour issues, compensation, I-9 questions, recruiting, employee benefits, harassment and discrimination, and more. Oh, and every kind of employee relations problem you can imagine. Including all the weird situations you have no idea what to do with. (We specialize in those.)
What can’t I call the HR Hotline about?
If your question is highly specialized, you may need an outside expert – think benefit plan questions (talk to your broker), complicated work authorization issues (you need an immigration attorney), and OSHA compliance (best left to a safety consultant). Luckily, we can usually refer you to one of our Provider Partners or another trusted resource. Just ask!
Is it really free?
Your organization must be a member of HR source to access the HR Hotline. Once you’re onboard, yes, the Hotline is included at no extra charge! That said, if you want us to review a substantial document, perform an analysis, or put pen to paper, your request may evolve into a project. We’ll always tell you when this is necessary and get you a quote before we start.
My organization isn’t a member of HR Source yet. Can I take the HR Hotline for a test drive?
Sure! If the HR Hotline sounds interesting, book a call with our Membership Team to learn more about becoming a member of HR Source. They can hook you up with a free Hotline call so you can experience it for yourself.
